Professor Bartha Maria KNOPPERS

Bartha is an expert on ethical issues of genetics, genomics and biotechnology. From 2001 to 2009, she was Canada Research Chair in Law and Medicine at the Université de Montréal. Her research interests include bio-banks, stem cells research, cloning, and assisted reproduction, etc. She is currently the Director of the Centre of Genomics and Policy of the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

Dr. Eric Mark MESLIN

Dr. Eric Mark MESLIN

Eric joined the CCA in 2016 after 30 years in university and government settings, including the previous 15 years at Indiana University where he was Founding Director of the IU Center for Bioethics. His research interests are in ethical and policy issues in research, international health, genomics, and governance.

Dr. Anthony NG

Dr. Anthony NG

Anthony is a trustee of the WYNG Foundation. He has received surgery training in the United States before joining the University Surgical Unit of Hong Kong University Medical School in 1979. He started his private practice group in 1986, and retired from active practice in 2012. He has been enthusiastic with community services and affairs for years.

Mr. Terry KAAN

Terry served as a Co-Director of the HKU Centre for Medical Ethics & Law from 2014 to 2020. Prior to joining HKU, he was with the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore. His current research interests include decisions at the end of life, genetic privacy, and the shape of future developments in legal and ethical obligations in relation to the acquisition and custody of clinical and genetic information by clinicians, biomedical researchers and other data custodians.

Dr. Philip S. L. BEH

Philip was a Co-Director of the HKU Centre for Medical Ethics and Law from 2012 to 2022. Philip’s research interests focus on clinical forensic medicine and forensic pathology. His current research is on the development and maintenance of the Hong Kong Homicide Monitoring Database. Data collected from the research is proving to facilitate further researches on a variety of homicides.
