About the Workshop:
This workshop is designed to introduce practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals, healthcare administrators and policymakers as well as any member of the public who attends the workshop to the law and ethics in relation to the responsibility of institutions (e.g. hospitals) for malpractice and the attribution of liability for the malpractice of others. In particular, the issue of doctors’ potential liability for the malpractice of other healthcare professionals (e.g. nurses) will be considered.

 Topics to be covered include:
1. Legal liability of institutions for malpractice (including the malpractice of others);
2. Legal liability of individuals for the malpractice of others;
3. Moral responsibility and institutions; and
4. Ethical duties to colleagues and professionalism.
