\u201cTechnology has changed many areas of our lives dramatically over the last 20 years.\u00a0 Striking examples are how we communicate and how we purchase goods and services.<\/p>\n

Compared to other areas there has been much less impact of technology on healthcare.\u00a0 This is going to change over the next period.\u00a0 The potential of genomics, disease stratification, personalised medicine and big data to change our approach to medicine and health is enormous.\u00a0 But it does present some major challenges!\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick Maxwell is a clinician scientist and in 2012 was appointed Regius Professor of Physic and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine at Cambridge.<\/p>\n
